When a book has been endorsed by one of the most popular author  loved by all ages "Ruskin Bond"  and published by Rupa Publisher then there much be something in it (kuch toh baat Hogi)
Let me come straight to the point The storytelling is just WOW.  Every chapter proves the amount of research  which was been done to built up the story ( the thought process, the conversation, the narration is one such fine example)
The first few chapter might not give you any clue where it might take you to ,but the story gradually develops and fits like a perfect puzzle.
The story is of two families Cynthia and Sam. Sam lost his a son and  wife in a freak accident. Clueless about the entire tragedy, the anger in him , made him take up counselling for anger management. He goes to Cynthia who is a counsellor for help.
Meanwhile Cynthia too is in distress .She and her teenage daughter Lily just came out from an abusive relationship. Cynthia had her own issues with her daughter and vice versa. But in all this Lily harbours a secret, Cynthia is shocked to hear the  dark secret from her blossom.
Though both Sam and Cynthia are sailing in the different  direction there ship will anchor in one place. How is it all connected with Sam? Will Sam get the answer he was looking for? How Cynthia's mind deceived her is what been revealed in this Novella.

I am bawled over the beautiful cover of the book.
Language Medium to hard.
A thrilling novel which will keep you hooked till the end .
Recommended to all  Mystery/Thriller lover

To me " Life itself is a string of coincidences and,to be perfectly  honest, I dont get our obsession with either controlling or explaining them." - Cynthia

Book Review |The Dark Side of the MoonVolume 1:Shubham Arora

The Dark Side of the MoonVolume 1:

Author: Shubham Arora
Length: 50
Kindle Format

The book contains 3 short stories, which are outstanding. The stories made me realise few incidents which actually took place in our country. Though it is not exact same like the story but dont we all hear  about mysterious death in the news dont we?

The stories includes:

The Last Skype : Story of a couple living a distant life due to job purpose. There only way of communication was  Skype chat. All was going pretty well until the  wife started  sensing bizarre symptoms while talking to her husband. What is happening to  her husband is what she finds out in Skype Chat.

In my Head : A story of a mother who killed her baby while the little one was feeding n her. She chopped her head, because she was told to do so. The narrator  was given in-charge to solve the mystery. Will he find something bizarre and back off from the case?

The Rituals. A man and his family obsessed with Lord Shiva, wants to see the lord in Physical form. The superstition and the rituals leads to something which will shock you.  Will the man get a glimpse of the Lord? Or is it only delusion.

The story the rituals made me remember the  death case of Burari family, where 11 members were found dead ( all hanged themselves).I still don't know what the reason was behind the death. Were they been murdered?
The shorts will hook you up from the beginning to the end. For many it might be paranormal activity but for me it is Mental disorder like (Psychosis/Schizophrenia).The stories will make you think whether the character actually needed medical assistance or does death cleans up the evilness.
Beginner who is looking for chilling -straight to the point stories, no drags, go for  The Dark Side of the Moon.

Thank You shubham Arora for the ebook. Looking forward for more such shorts.

Pages: 148
Children Fiction

Do you have any special memories of your childhood?
I picked this children book The Adventures of Pupu to  read it to my nephew who is as curious amd Adventurous like Pupu. To my surprise my 1 year old too sat with the book and kept on turning pages and pretending to read .
True to what it says in its blurb, Author Amitabh Sinha's book Adventure of Pupu is collection of highly imaginative short story which has a social message for everyone. . Reading it out will bring back your own's childhood memories. The book is ideal for children of 5 yrs and above.
The illustration makes it connect more with the stories.

What I loved about the book:
The cover of the book is visually appealing for kids to pick it up .
The font is extremely relaxing to the eyes and a sheer joy to read.
The language is simple for children to understand
The illustration though not much clear ( black and white ) helped to visualise more.
The Activity inside ,after each chapters surely engaged kids to think  respond

Cons:
Wish there was an index to pick the stories individually to re read.

My view:
It is hard to choose which one is my favourite story out of all, as every single one is practical and beautifully written, but out of all my favourite was Booji,  Bahadur  etc are some of my favorites.

Mom's out there if you are looking for a book to read out to your child this book is easy , short and something which we Indian have done in our childhood.

The story  revolves around Chatterjee Household. Anju and Sudha  though distant cousin but their unbreakable bond can make many sibling jealous. Both lost their father on the same day they were born.  Anju's father was the sole owner of the Chatterjee mansion  and Sudha's father and mother came to lived with them.
One day Sudha gets to know the secret of their father's death from there Pishi ( aunty) It was her Pishi who came to know another secret of Sudha's Father but couldn't tell anyone about it. In the mean time Sudha is burdened with the fact that they have lived on Anju's Father wealth through out their life without even knowing. Sudha understood that Anju's father was tricked somehow. This made their secure bond loosen up.
As they grow up,  they were forced to get married . Though Sudha was in love with a guy name Ashok , she didnt have the guts to elope and defame the chaterjee household  name. Anju fell in love with someone from America who  had a lust for Sudha. Sudha didn't like this at all. Sudha married a guy whom her mother thought suitable for her. A marriage with no love. She makes a compromise just to save her sister Anju's marriage.
With out of sight the two sister grew far apart from each other until  a blow of tragedy makes them realise the value of each other.
With secrets unfolding, what will happen when  Anju get's to know everything? Will the heart still beat as one?

The book continue  with the story in the second book The Vine of Desire.

My views:

Cover of the book:Simple and that what makes it look rich.

Author  Chitra Banerjee have beautifully sculpted out the old Bengal in her book. With bengali words scattered here and there, made the book more classy to read. It unfolds secret every nook and corner which are not even predictable. The story hooked me in every page. Though at time the book will make you feel lonely  but at an instant you will be swept away with  secrets and sisterly love .Filled with emotions and an enchanting woven tale of two sister will make you feel the character.

Book Review |Endurer: A rape Story by Kapil Raj

Endurer: A rape Story
Author: Kapil Raj

Endurer  talks about India's fourth most common crime "RAPE", assisted by drugs and alcohol.
Palak , a college going girl, living in hostel enjoyed experimenting with life "BLINDLY" Her friends included some rich brats whose life's motto was to attend rave party, take drugs ,alcohol and enjoy sex. Palak got hold into drugs to vent out her sufferings. She misses her mother.
Endurer means suffering ! Here Palak was Raped  in a rave party and she couldn't remember a thing. Dry and wet drugs  made her loose conscious completely, her raped video was circulated in her college as well as on porn website.  One of her friend Rohin helps her to escape to his hometown to heal from the panic attacks and humiliation from the society.
The second half, how she survived  was extremely engaging, as the book talks about, Palak facing other rape survivors who had no connection with drugs or alcohol, yet was been raped.  How this entire new change affected Palak will leave you emotional.

The narration is engaging and the author have put so much life with his words that either you will be pissed off at times with the characters' or you will drowned in emotion.
The trauma of a rape survivor have been well put up and a simple explanation how to  heal from the horror.
.
When I started reading the book, I had questions in my mind, why choose drugs and alcohol for rape?Well there are other incidents of victims getting raped by family members in the book too. Its about today;s youth getting attracted towards wrong things. This story is not how palak got justice , its how it changed her entire life.

If your life does not mean anything to you, give it to the ones who need it. You can always help, show kindness and spread a smile.- Endurer
