The relationship between a parent and a kid is like the relationship between a man and a plant. The man sows the seeds and when he sees the first shoot of green emerging from the soul,he feels that is the best moment in his life.As the shoot grows he sees it every day, waters it ,protects it and nurture it.Once it becomes a plant, he relishes every moment looking at the new leaves ,bud, flowers as they blossom. When it grows bigger he may remove it from the pot and may replant it elsewhere. Now the plant need little less attention.Once it grows into a tree, you find that the tree has other duties as well. Book Review |My Mute GirlFriend - Himanshu Rai

Author@ Himanshu Rai
No of Page: 207
Publisher: Shristi Publishers.

From the Book - (BLURB)

" That day I realised I had lost her forever. I had lost her smile, her friendship , her voice...

But still ,somewhere in my heart , I believed her to be my girlfriend. My Mute girlfriend."

Rohan is a telecom professional posted in Meerut and misses his girlfriend from college days, who had stopped interacting with him, without giving any reason. Although she had always stood by his side and her eyes reflected immense love, but she remained his mute girlfriend. The book opens with an SMS from Vaidehi to Rohan, after five long years. But before he could reply, his mobile gets damaged and he wanders in his memories to narrate a story. About how his girlfriend became his mute girlfriend after the first year of their engineering college. My Mute Girlfriend is a true romance story of how Rohan unravels the answers to why Vaidehi was mute for so long and how their life is about to change. But little do they know that the worst is yet to come.

Overview:

The story is about Rohan and Vaidehi and their love. Rohan also had a huge crush on Navya , a girl from his school.  Though Vaidehi  was the  ultimate one for him, but he couldn't take Navya out from his memories. One fine day Vaidehi stopped talking to Rohan . Clueless Rohan was in immense shock and heart broken.
What happened to Vaidehi that she stopped talking to Rohan for 5 years?
What about Navya?
Will Rohan get to know the reasons behind  Vaidehi's  unpredictable behaviour?

There is more to it.

My views:

  • The word " Mute" made me think the girl probably has speech problem. But I was completely wrong.
  •  A story  about  growing up, being respectful, loving family,  friendship , love and memories.
  • It' s an  innocent  romantic story and more enjoyable because it was the  golden 90's era where we actually enjoyed life without mobiles and internet.

    • From Rohan's  school days till his new job life you would not want to skip any pages.
    • A very unpredictable  ending. The narration was easy and a visual treat . For the first time I DID  enjoy reading about the ragging in an engineering college.
    • The book cover was pretty filmy.
    •  Because of the unpredictable twist at the end I am rating it -

    Rating: 4/5

Book Review |Chronicles of Kali- The secret Book of Asuras

Chronicles of Kali- The secret Book of Asuras

    Author: Prithviraj Banerjee
    Publisher:Vishwakarma Publications
    No of Pages: 239
    Available at Amazon:Buy the book

A little bit from the Mythology:

Goddess Kali  in Hindu religion represents the awakening  of the inner force  that destroy evil. She is also known as Shakti. In our ancient scripture the demon Raktabeej ( the blood seed) was given a boon  that his blood fell on ground would create more of such demon with increase strength.  It was only kali who  solved the vexing problem  by drinking up all the blood before it fell on the ground.

    A bit about the story:

The story starts off with the protagonist Kali, who was found by master Vyaas  floating on a raft in Ganga. Kali had supernatural power of being able to interact with nature. She was destined to do something big once for the human race,to save them and their thought process from the Asuras who have the secret to create disharmony.
How will Kali find Asura in this modern age and save the human race? What secret has been written in the book of Asuras and where to find them?

    My Views:

What fascinated me in the first place was the eye catchy brightly coloured illustration on the cover by the author himself.
The author has beautifully compared Asuras with human thought process.
The chapters are full of short mythological tales which make the story more interesting and fun to read making it more relatable to the modern age.
The characters have been developed  with much thoughts and research.
Being a mythology lover every chapter made me stick to the book till the end.
A very very thoughtful topic combined with  entertainment from Los Angeles to the Ghats of Benaras.

I recommend this book to everyone.
A book that reveals the secrets of human thoughts and how one can defeat them.

The third character was Rekha who is a doctor by profession and has a passion for kathak dance. She longs for someone who would make her feel loved. Fate brings the three together and their story gets interconnected. Will there dream come true?  Will  Khusru and his terror gang succeed in blowing up the power plant?
    🏗️
    My views:

    • The background story  of each character was depicted minutely. The details helped in understanding the three character and their connection with the story. From Kerala to Kashmir I could definitely feel the essence  of the character's native place.
    •  The local language was something I loved reading  except the Hindi slangs. Language blended with the description of each place whether it is Kerala or Kashmir
    • My favourite character was Nanda. I enjoyed reading about his family background and their culture of Kalari Art.
    • The author depicted the real struggle of the  construction worker after doing much research.
    •  The technical portion which was extremely researched by the author was little  tedious for a layman like me to understand.
    • Some of the part was unnecessarily stretched. It made the story more like a document.
    • There were too many side characters which at times got  confusing.
    • Would have enjoyed more if the climax was little more detailed.
    • Overall the book was an easy to read with beautiful description of the mountains.
would I recommend this book? Yes definately, if you enjoy technical fiction grab this book.

    Rating: 3.8/5

Maidless in Mumbai - Payal Kapadia

    Author: Payal Kapadia
    Publisher: bloomsbury India
    Pages:192

Payal Kapadia's book Maidless in Mumbai will connect all new-mom's together in one string. If you haven't read this hilarious book yet , grab it from Amazon and calm your hormones .

The story revolves around Anu a working lady who has given birth recently to a baby girl Tara. Before she was admitted to the hospital she lined up all her important postpartum work pretty neatly . She appointed a nurse to take care of her baby but when the time came the nurse didn't pick her call neither she came for work.Meanwhile her MIL( mom-in-law ) comes for a stay and she gets bombard with advises."yesterday you were living for yourself .Now live for your daughter." Her husband avoids being into all such  situation. Anu looks for the perfect maid who can help her in the midst of the chaos.  Will she find one?

    My Views:

Though the story says maidless in Mumbai but I think its pretty problematic everywhere. I myself face this every time and my life becomes chaotic with a one yr old .
One thing I would say is - women whether working or not life changes hysterically with a newborn. The book is hilarious. I giggled all through the chapters cause the author was right on point but in a comic style . A must read !

Do you believe Yoga can make a man walk on water?

Well this was what made me grab a copy of The Seeker . Can a man see future or can he read minds? Well the answer to this is yes.  I found my answer after reading this book  and I was  extremely surprised to learn the power of Yoga.
The story is about a wall street banker Max who after his mother's death was left with series of questions on life suffering and death. ( A modern tale of Gautam Buddha) He decides to look for an answer and leaves everything behind to travel to India in search of spirituality.  He find himself a guru who teaches him the power of yoga which later helps him to find his answer. From the frozen Himalaya's to the hot paddy fields of South India Max's journey penned down by the author will actually make you feel every bit of pain and penance.
Though at times few chapters were a little drag  but overall this book left me thinking a very heavy feeling.

    Book Review-The Frogs

    Book length : 17 ( Kindle estimation)
    Publication: Westland
    Available at amazon for free

Have you ever came across someone who have compromised entire life to please society/ husband  but never got anything in return, neither love nor respect !
I was scrolling through my Kindle when I happened to come across this book The Frogs free at Amazon Prime. For a quick read I thought to choose this one as the cover was interesting! ( I sometimes judge  books by it's cover)

The protagonist Aparna was into gardening and learning new things right from her childhood while living with her aunt. Later She got forceful married to the man whom she never loved. Her life was just to serve her husband and keep her family happy. The story builds up when her suppressed anger lead to series of unexpected events.

The twist at the end was brilliant.!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟/5
